The project aims to increase the capacity of the South Asian Seniors and create community awareness, develop skills, knowledge and confidence of the senior volunteers, mentors and community members to address violence and community safety issues.
The project envisages sustaining its activities through volunteers and peer mentors. The capacity development tools are disseminated at the community level through info sessions and community workshops in the Eglinton East and Kennedy Park priority neighbourhood areas.
Our activities include training volunteers, developing culturally appropriate training modules for the Senior Volunteers and training Peer Mentors; organizing community workshops and Info sessions to advocate against the elder abuse.
The expected results of the project are to prevent abuse and ensure safety for seniors.
