9. South Asian Seniors Abuse Counseling Project

     
 

SASACP aims to increase awareness of the social issues of the South Asian Seniors in the community, reduce isolation, risk and vulnerability to abuse, provide peer support and counselling to develop life skills.

 
     
 

The South Asian Senior Abuse Counselling Program addresses both the Coommunity Participation and Leadership objectives: (1)seniors to contribute their skills, experience and wisdom in support of well-being in their commuities and (2) promote the ongoing involvement of seniors in their communities to reduce their risk of social isolation.

 
     
 

To educate and train community senior volunteers on the various forms and degrees of elder abuse so that they can disseminate the learning in the community to identify the victims of elder abuse and work as advocates against elder abuse and to provide peer support, mentoring and organize support group counselling for victims of seniors abuse bi-weekly to redress risk and isolation and build life skills.
